Last night we hosted our first ever Scottish Bloggers Collective event, and it was amazing! Bringing together Edinburgh bloggers of all kinds, we met up for an evening of cocktails, pizza and chatting about blogging. A huge thank you to all the lovely bloggers who came along – it was so great to meet you all!
The workshop was all about Working With Brands, so we teamed up with the ladies at Leopold + Frida to find out what PR companies and brands look for when working with bloggers. Laura Hudson, Senior Account Manager at L+F and blogger at The Style Stories, gave us lots of very handy tips. As Laura is both a blogger and a PR manager, it was very interesting to hear her perspective from both sides!
As well as doing a presentation about the dos and don’ts of approaching brands, Laura also led a workshop teaching us bloggers how to create a brand pitch. It was great to hear her insider knowledge and very encouraging to learn that not all brands are just looking at how many followers you have. Instead, you should focus on your strengths, your niche and shout about how you could be the perfect fit for that specific brand.
The event was held at the eteaket Concept Store on Rose Street, and we also heard from eteaket’s founder, Erica Moore. She had a very inspirational story to tell about how she quit her high-powered job in London to move back to Edinburgh and pursue her dreams of owning the perfect tea shop. Erica also told us about how eteaket have collaborated with other Scottish brands to create exciting new products.
A couple of those products were the Isle of Harris Gin Tea and the Tomatin Whisky Tea. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to create some tea cocktails! So, we teamed up with Josh from Crackin’ Cocktails who led a cocktail masterclass. We learnt how to make an apple and elderflower cocktail with the Tomatin Whisky Tea, as well as an Isle of Harris Gin, tea and lemon cocktail. The bloggers all went home with the recipes and some samples of the eteaket teas so they could recreate the cocktails at home.
Finally, a big thank you to Dough Pizza who provided us with some delicious pizzas to keep us going throughout the evening. What more could you want – pizza, cocktails and your new fave blogger pals all in one room!
Don’t forget to check out our Scottish Bloggers Collective hashtag, #scotblogco, on Twitter and Instagram to catch up with everyone’s posts from the evening. Can’t wait for our Glasgow event on Thursday!
